A septic inspection tests and evaluates a home’s private sewage treatment system. After placing load on the system, the inspector checks to make sure it’s working properly. Septic inspectors often request drawings from the county and use those to help locate all the components which sometimes can be a challenge. All tanks are visually inspected, lines are checked to make sure there are no leaks, and the grounds are checked to ensure no environmental concerns exist. Tanks should not be pumped right before the test. If the property is vacant and no load has been put on the system for an extended amount of time the test may come back inconclusive.
